English translation
Per scientiam ad justitiam Justice through science Following this credo the physician and sexologist Dr. Magnus Hirschfeld * 5/14/1868 in Kolberg ✝ 5/14/1935 in exile in Nizza led the work at the institute for sexology that was founded by him on 7/6/1919 in the tents 9A-10, nearby this place. This building, acknowledged as a charity foundation by the Prussians, was plundered and diverted by the National Socialists in 1933 and more than 12,000 of his writings were publicly burned. This institute for sexology, destroyed in the Second World War, was the world's first establishment which combined sexual research and education; a place for medical care and refuge for all those who were socially condemned due to their sexuality.
